Dr Kurvi Patwala

Kurvi is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who obtained her undergraduate medical degree from Monash University in 2015. She initially completed basic physician training at the Austin Hospital in a wide range of medical specialties, before pursuing and completing gastroenterology training at Monash Health & Austin Hospital. She subsequently undertook sub-specialty training in Hepatology & Liver Transplantation overseas at the Royal Free Hospital in London. Currently she is working as a Gastroenterologist & Deputy Director of Physician Education at Peninsula Health in Melbourne, with a deep focus on patient education, patient-centered care and equality of access to healthcare for all patients.

She has a range of interests including liver disease, alcohol related systemic disease, irritable bowel syndrome, the gut-brain axis, general gastroenterology conditions and diagnostic endoscopy. Kurvi is passionate about clear communication and patient education, placing the patient at the centre of all decision making. Outside of medicine, she enjoys all forms of exercise including bouldering, tennis and an upcoming attempt to run a half-marathon.
